ATTICA, Ohio – During his final weekend of preparation before taking on the World of Outlaws for five races in the coming weeks, Hunter Schuerenberg set out for two races in northwestern Ohio. He pieced together a respectable ninth-place finish after starting deep in his heat race on Friday night at Attica Raceway Park before getting rained out at Fremont Speedway on Saturday.
A dreadful pill draw put Schuerenberg starting in the eighth and final spot on the grid in the first of three heat races. A fast, tacky racing surface made passing difficult, but the Sikeston, Mo. driver passed two cars to take sixth in the eight-lap qualifying race.
All 23 cars in attendance would qualify for the main event, scheduled for 30 laps. Rolling off 16th, set by his heat race passing point total, Schuerenberg steadily moved his way forward early, making it to 13th with 11 laps down. Several cars involved in a crash on the following lap brought out a caution, with Schuerenberg able to avoid the commotion. Inheriting a top-ten position for the restart, he would run in eighth for much of the remainder, but lost a position with three laps left, bringing the Roof Bolt Express/Nolen Racing No. 20N to the checkered in ninth.

Schuerenberg is next scheduled to compete on May 1 at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla., on May 2 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., and on May 3 at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., all with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in the No. 20N 410ci winged sprint entry.
